Welcome to the website garden of Gail and Ken Austin. Several years ago, we retired from our “real jobs” and embarked on this wonderful gardening adventure. Our small nursery is located near Portland, Oregon where we enjoy a long growing season and a wonderful gardening environment.

Daylilies (hemerocallis) anchor our American Hemerocallis Society Official Display Garden, but the garden is not just about daylilies. Japanese iris (iris ensata), clematis, peonies, hellebores, ferns, hosta, bulb lilies, fuchsias, and many other perennial plants keep the garden interesting from season to season. We love our plants, but it is the people that we meet that makes this such a heartwarming experience. Without visitors, our garden would be a pleasant place to spend time, but not nearly as fun and fulfilling. We hope that you will not only visit us on this website and through our catalog, but will join us in the garden on one of our open dates. Contact us by phone or e-mail for directions to the garden.

Our Catalog is not just a list of plants. It is full of information about Japanese iris and daylilies, and it includes a list of other perennial plants available locally. Inside you will find a picture CD with over 400 digital images of flowers listed in the catalog. It is very user-friendly. Just pop the CD in your computer’s drive, view the pictures individually, or run them through your slideshow program. The cost is only $3.00 and is refundable with your first order.

We are committed to providing the highest quality plants and the best personalized service to make your plant purchasing experience a pleasant and rewarding one. Our garden is licensed and regularly inspected by the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

Japanese iris and daylilies can be purchased by mail order. Fresh, mature, blooming size plants are shipped bare-root by USPS priority mail. If you are close enough and would like to make arrangements to pick up your plants, you will receive established plants growing in gallon containers.

We don’t ship perennials other than daylilies and Japanese iris, but clematis, hostas and other plants can be ordered for pick-up, purchased locally at the Tigard Farmers Market or our garden when it is open. See our list of open garden dates below. If you can’t make it on a scheduled date or would like to schedule a group tour, contact us to arrange another time.

Our nursery is small. We grow a large variety of plants, but none in mass quantities. Some of our listings may sell out, so please feel free to contact us and inquire about availability.

We ship daylilies anytime between March 25th and October 15th except during periods of extreme heat. Japanese irises are shipped from August 15th through September 15th. We will consider other shipping dates that suit your needs as long as we are able to prepare the plants and you are able to plant them in your area - just let us know what your needs are and we will do our best to fill your request.

We accept payment by check, money order, or through PayPal.
